How We Got Started
Great Lakes Permanent Lighting was founded to give West Michigan homeowners a better alternative to hanging and re-hanging seasonal lights every year. We saw neighbors climbing ladders every November and taking the same risk again every January, and we built a permanent, app-controlled system to close that gap. What started as a small, local operation has grown to serve homeowners across Grand Rapids, Caledonia, Wyoming, Byron Center, Holland, Kentwood, Jenison, and Hudsonville.
Why We Do This
Started Great Lakes Permanent Lighting after seeing how much stress seasonal lighting put on local homeowners — the ladders, the tangled strands, the rushed takedowns before the next holiday. They wanted a system that worked the same way professional landscapers or electricians do: installed once, done right, and ready for every season without repeating the same work twice. That belief led to a precision-first installation process built around centering every light line from the roofline peak, rather than eyeballing placement the way most seasonal crews do. Today that same standard applies to every home the team touches, from a first holiday display to a full security and accent lighting system.
